One of the main applications of data envelopment analysis (DEA) is to integrate this approach with Malmquist productivity index (MPI) in order to calculate the process of changes in productivity of decision making unit (DMU) over different time periods. In this study, the development of novel Malmquist productivity index with the ability to implement in the presence of fuzzy data are discussed. It should be noted that for this purpose, the possibilistic programming approach, which is one of the most useful and effective approaches in fuzzy mathematical programming, has been used. The implementation of proposed fuzzy MPI is illustrated by a numerical example. The results indicate the ability of the proposed index to calculate the changes in productivity in the presence of ambiguity in the data.
