Application-level database encryption is a data-security solution that runs at application level. In fact, database encryption is referred to as the process of using an algorithm to convert and store sensitive database information. So, to ensure data confidentiality, the data will be converted to the encrypted form before storing. But the issue is that cryptography transforms the data and makes the query difficult. In this paper, while reviewing some of the mechanisms and methods of data encryption that aim to create secure databases, we provide a new method for encryption and queries on encrypted data of different data types. This method is based on the secret sharing. In the proposed method, the largest volume of execution tasks on queries is dedicated to the server, and the data owner only has the task of encrypting and decrypting the data.
