A PV emulator produces I-V and P-V characteristics of a PV module by different methods such as using a power electronic converter. Ambient conditions influence directly on these characteristics. Ambient condition divides into two significant parts, cell temperature and solar irradiance. Cell temperature, which has a significant impact on the characteristics of the PV module, depends on ambient temperature, wind speed, wind direction, humidity, and so on. In this paper, a novel PV emulator with considering ambient conditions including solar irradiance, ambient temperature, and wind speed and its direction has been proposed. By proposing a novel and simple controller, an output with low ripple in voltage and current will be achieved. In this approach, a lead filter helps the PI controller and acts as a low-pass filter. A simulation study of PV mathematical model, DC-DC converter, and the controller has been done by MATLAB/Simulink, which validates the performance of the proposed system.
