This paper offers a solution based on predictive control for torque ripple reduction of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with non-sinusoidal flux distribution. Dynamic model of the motor with back Electromotive Force (EMF) waveform harmonics is presented. Sliding Mode Observer (SMO) with sigmoid function is developed to track flux linkage accurately. The estimated flux linkage waveform is used to shape reference current and finally Finite Set Model based Predictive Control (FS-MPC) with high bandwidth applies appropriate voltage to motor through two-level voltage source inverter to follow reference current. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of proposed method.
