gorganrood is one of the most important rivers in the north east of iran in which due to the massive floods especial attention has been paid on it mainly during recent two decays in order to control the flood hazards golestan-1 dam has been constructed across the main branch of the gorganrood river since 2001 the dam is of concrete type with 86 million m3 reservoir maximum capacity in this paper the result of numerical modeling studies of the evaluation the dam construction on attenuation of flood peak discharge for different return periods have been presented.
