The purpose of the present research is to investigate the effect of surface roughness of hardface coatings on wear damage. Vibration in the combustion chamber of the industrial gas turbine leads to surface degradation of adjacent parts affected by wear. Practically, hardface coatings are implemented to improve the wear life of components. To determine optimal roughness of coating, different test specimens with various degrees of surface roughness were tested via the SRV wear test machine. The test conditions are established according to the temperature and contact pressure of the parts under operating conditions. This paper provides the results of evaluation of the effect of roughness on wear damage to gas turbine combustor components.
