In this study the effect of various electron beam radiation doses (26, 39, 52 KGy) on crosslinking of PVA/chitosan blending films is surveyed. Various weight ratios of PVA to chitosan (90:10, 80:20, 70:30 and 60:40) in aqueous solution are used. The main reason for carringing out this work is material development in biomedical application. It was found that the gel fraction increased with the increasing PVA content in the blend, up to a certain radiation dose and then decreased. Swelling percent increased as the amount of chitosan increased in the blend. Water absorption of films, decreased with increasing dose to 39kGy and increased after that. An increasing percentage of chitosan, reduced the tensile strength and increased elongation at break of PVA/chitosan blends. Moreover, properties of composite films at all PVA/ chitosan wt% increased with increasing irradiation dosage from 26 to 39 kGy, and decreased at the irradiation dose of 52kGy.
