Management of produced water is one of the most important problems associated with hydrocarbon production in recent years. On the other hand, formation of gas hydrate has been considered as a suitable method of brine water desalination. In this study, CO2 hydrate formation in saline produced water was investigated at different operating conditions with and without additives. To select the initial operating temperature and pressure, some pre-tests were carried out to evaluate the desalination efficency and the temperature of 274.2º K and pressure of 3.5 MPa was selected. It has been found that with a three-stage hydrate process, 86% of salinity will be removed by desalination process using CO2 hydrate formation without any additive.
