In this research, for the first time,chitosan/graphene oxide/curcumin(CS/GO/C) nanocompositeis synthesized to be used as the scaffold for wound dressing. The nanocomposite scaffolds are fabricatedvia a vacuum freeze-dry routeand characterized by different methods includingFESEM, FTIR and tensile stress.FESEM micrographs show a highly porous structure for both chitosan and CS/GO/C samples. The FTIR patterns confirm the presence of GO nanoparticles within chitosan structure. Also tensile stress is improved as a result of GO incorporation, indicating proper interaction between CS and GO nanoparticles. To determine cell viability of the scaffold, WST technique wascarried out. The results show that cell viability is improved in curcumin/chitosan/grapheneoxide, which is possibly due to the synergitic effect of antibacterial properties of curcumin and unique structure of graphenenanosheets. Put all in a nutshell, based on results reported here the CS/GO/C nanocompositecan be considered as a candidate for wound dressing applications and skin tissue engineering.
