In this work, the transient desorption behavior of fixed-beds packed with core-shell cylindrical particles is studied numerically. At first, the mass transfer equations in mobile and stationary phases are developed and the partial differential equations are discretized and solved using finite difference methods. The results are illustrated on the breakthrough curves for desorption process for cylindrical and spherical particles and the shape of adsorbents effect is investigated. The numerical results reveal that spherical particles have better performance in comparison with cylindrical particles for the beds with remarkable length. This is while the effect of particles shape in short beds is not considerable.
