Design by strut-and-tie modelss (STM) is an emerging method that simultaneously consiidders shear forces, bending and torsional moment tss, providing appropriate and optimum design for structurrees. These models, replace the structure with a siimmple truss, although several models can be considered fofor more complex structures. The objective of thhee present research is to study the strut-and-tie models i inn shear wall with openings and to investigate effeec cts of boundary element of shear wall in STM. Results shhoow that STM is a powerful technique for design oof shear walls. Results also show that boundary elements ssiignificantly affect the strength and ductility of sheaar r wall
