In this study, the effect of the steaming was investigated on the catalyst structure and performance of ZSM-5 as the catalyst for methanol to propylene reaction (MTP). The catalyst was prepared by hydrothermal method and then extruded using aluminum phosphate acting as a binder. The pore size and volume of the catalyst were increased by steaming. Due to the change in the structure and surface acidity, the catalyst performance is increased in methanol to propylene reaction. According to the results,The increase in the light olefin selectivity in this study is attributed to the improved product shape selectivity of the catalyst and the addition of AlPO4 phase in the structure during steaming, which changed diffusion characteristics by decreasing pore dimensions and openings and the steaming results in formation of AlPO4 phase in the catalyst and promote the light olefins selectivity to 78%.
