The effect of reaction parameters on the catalytic activity of LaNiO3 catalyst for partial oxidation of methane was
studied. The kinetic behavior of the LaNiO3 catalyst in partial oxidation of methane was investigated as functions of
temperature and of partial pressures of CH4 and O2. A kinetic model for partial oxidation of methane process proposed
by Tavazzi et al. has been fitted our experimental data. The obtained coefficients in equations follow the Arrhenius and
Vant Hoff relations. The activation energy of methane combustion, steam reforming, CO2 reforming, RWGS, CO
oxidation, H2 oxidation reactions and adsorption energy of O2, H2O and CO were calculated from the mentioned model.
The bulk of the data confirmed that methane partial oxidation proceeds according to an indirect reaction scheme
consisting of CH4 deep oxidation, secondary reactions of CH4 reforming responsible for syngas formation, the watergas
shift reaction, and consecutive oxidations of H2 and CO.
