Using polymers as a binder to improve mechanical strength of tableware in isostatics press technology

Today, producing of tableware has been changed from traditional to modern technology. In this new technology,
granulate is pressed with 3% moisture up to 300 bar. To repair lack of moisture, polymers should be used to increase
green strength in granulate and module of rapture in pressed item. In this paper, we study a solution in order to choose
the best polymer and a way to use them. For this purpose, at first we choose two polymers and heat them to find its
burning curve then we use these polymers in different amount in body formulation and fire them in different
temperatures and measure their green strength. Results show, by using 0.6 percent of polyvinyl alcohol with different
chain we can have a pressed item that have a good strength but we must fire them in oxidation atmosphere up to 400C
and its combustion gas must exit immediately to avoid its bad results.
