Recycling of Off Spec EPS in HIPS

Essentially, fine beads of expandable polystyrene (EPS) have low usage for high final products density and low foaming ability. Recycling these products and converting them to valuable products (HIPS) is economical. Possibility of recycling EPS off spec products were studied in two process, a) HIPS/EPS extrusion and b) syntheses of HIPS. In compositions of the percentages which have been studied (up to 6%), results of mechanical properties and flowability of final product do not have any sign of decrease.
