Surface tension is one of the most basic characteristics of liquid and solid phases. To achieve good adhesion, the surface tension of the mobile phase should be lower than the surface tension of the substrate. Several methods, including corona treatment, are widely used in the industry to modify the polymer surface. In the corona treatment of polymer layers, polar groups enter the surfaces, which increases the surface energy and, as a result, wetting and adhesion of the substrate. The chemical mechanism of corona treatment is oxidation. Its physical mechanism includes changing morphology.
