Phycocyanin is the main phycobiliprotein in Spirulina. Phycocyanin has significant antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and free reduction radical properties. It is used as a colorant in cosmetics and food. Many people think that phycocyanin is just a natural pigment extracted from spirulina, ignoring that phycocyanin contains eight essential amino acids for humans. Eating phycocyanin is of great benefit to the human body. In this experiment, phycocyanin has been extracted in different situation. There were 4 treatments in different temperature such as: room temperature, sun light, refrigerator and under the laser beam. After 24 hours, all samples homogenized with homogenizer for 10 min then phycocyanin has been extracted. The best experiment was the sample has been kept in refrigerator. The color, quality and purity of this treatment was better than other treatments.
