Polylactic acid is a very good candidate for fabricating scaffolds due to it’s good biocompatibility and high mechanical strength, but the pure PLA has limitations such as low hydrophilicity, bioneutrality and low toughness. One of the main strategies in this field is the surface covering of scaffolds with hydroxyapatite. Researches have shown that coating of PLA by hydroxyapatite leads to a remarkable improvement of bioactivity properties, bone conductivity and hydrophilicity of this scaffold. PLA-HA hybrid scaffolds have potential to play a role in cell growth and repair of damaged tissues.
