In this study, tar pitch based activated carbon impregnated by zero-valent iron nanoparticles was synthesized as heterogeneous Fenton catalysts for degradation of methylene blue solution and characterized by XRD, BET, and FESEM techniques. The TAC/nZVI catalyst displayed good activity in removing highly concentrated methylene blue solution (50 mg L-1) near neutral pH, where decolorization was measured as a response. Finally, the results shown the TAC/nZVI is a recyclable heterogeneous Fenton catalyst that is able to remove methylene blue from water completely in 35 minutes.
