پاركهاي خودگردان يك مجموعه آموزشي براي آموزش تجربي، يادگيري مادام‌العمر، و خودآموزي در طراحي كاشت گياهان چند ساله مي باشد. پارك‌هاي خودگردان يك كتاب آموزنده زنده است كه مجموعه اي از گياهان دارويي يك يا چند ساله در طراحي پارك استفاده خواهد شد هدف از ايجاد چنين پاركهايي اين است كه با توجه به ارزش گياهان دارويي در اقتصاد كشور به عنوان پارك در آمدزا در اختيار فارغ التحصيلان رشته هاي مهندسي فضاي سبز يا ساير رشته هاي مرتبط قرار گيرد بديهي است ايجاد چنين بستري علاوه بر ايجاد اشتغال براي يك كار تيمي ، مي تواند به عنوان يك مركز آموزشي در سطوح آكادميك و نيز يك مركز عمومي براي افراد علاقمند به گياهان دارويي باشد . و علاوه بر اين، آگاهي از مزاياي طراحي كاشت خلاقانه فضاي سبز را افزايش ‌دهد.تلاش هاي زيادي براي ايجاد فضاهاي سبز در سراسر كشور از جمله جنگل كاري و محوطه سازي شهري با گونه هايي با نياز آبياري مادام العمرانجام شده است، كه نيازهاي آبي زياد براي سرسبز نگه داشتن فضاي سبز موجود، همراه با كمبود آب و شوري، باعث ايجاد چالش هاي زيست محيطي و اكولوژيكي بزرگي شده است.كه ايده پارك هاي خود گردان به عنوان يك راهكار در زمينه ترويج و اشاعه فرهنگ استفاده از گياهان دارويي و معطر بومي به دليل پتانسيل مقاوم به شوري و خشكي، به منظور ايجاد فوايد چند منظوره منجمله،توسعه مناظر سبز پايدار، كاهش مصرف آب براي محوطه سازي، افزايش تاب آوري جوامع در شرايط شور و كمبود آب ، حفظ تنوع زيستي گياهي كشور و ايجاد سود دهي اقتصادي از اين پارك ها ،خواهد شد.
