Drilling fluids are crucial for hydrocarbon exploration and production, but their environmental impact has led to a growing focus on alternative solutions. Palm oil has been chosen as a sustainable and effective drilling fluid base, gaining attention in scientific circles. This article analyzes the chemical characteristics, environmental benefits, challenges, and technological advancements of palm oil implementation. This article additionally examines the manner in which palm oil has emerged as a promising ecologic option in the global supply of drilling fluids for improving rheological characteristics, particularly in the context of drilling challenging formations. The results reveal an optimization procedure for palm oil performance to achieve ecological integrity. This research highlights the potential of palm oil as an environmentally friendly solution for the drilling industry, which often faces resource constraints.
