The use of 4D printing technology in biomedical applications has the potential to revolutionize healthcare and medicine. Incorporating the fourth dimension, time, 4D bioprinting enables the creation of structures that can self-deform and adapt their shape or properties in response to external stimuli. Shape memory polymers (SMPs) and hydrogels have been widely studied as smart active materials for 4D printing. One of the important things that should be considered in 4D printing is the effect of factors such as temperature and the effects of water or solvent. This technology holds promise in the fields of regenerative medicine and drug delivery, offering the ability to create complex and functional tissues or organs and improve patient outcomes.
