اينترنت اشياء (Internet of Things) در معناي كلي، به اتصال وسايل (به جز وسايلي مثل كامپيوتر و گوشي هوشمند) به اينترنت گفته مي شود. اتومبيل، وسايل آشپزخانه و حتي نمايشگر ضربان قلب هم مي توانند به اينترنت اشياء متصل شوند. هر چه دامنه ي اينترنت اشياء در چند سال آينده گسترده تر شود، وسايل و اشياء بيشتري به اين ليست اضافه خواهند شد. اينترنت اشياء اصطلاحي است براي توصيف دنيايي كه درآن اشيا قادر خواهند بود با اتصال به اينترنت يا به كمكابزارهاي ارتباطي با ساير اشيا تعامل داشته باشند و اطلاعات خود را با هم و يا با انسانها به اشتراك بگذارند و كلاسجديدي از قابليت ها، برنامه هاي كاربردي و سرويس ها را ارائه دهند.دنيايي كه درآن تمامي اشياء و دستگاه هاي نامتجانسقابليت آدرس دهي و در نتيجه قابليت كنترل پذيري دارند. هدف ابر (اينترنت) اشياء به عنوان چهارمين انقلاب صنعتي توانمندسازي اشياء براي اتصال در هر زمان و در هر مكاني، با هر چيزي و هر شخصي است كه از هر مسير يا شبكه و خدمتي به صورت ايده آل استفاده مي كند. اين فناوري جديد به حضور نافذ محيطي توجه دارد و جهاني كه به شكل واقعي، ديجيتال و مجازي است و به سمت شكل گيري محيط هاي هوشمند، همگرا مي شوند. اين فناوري در حوزه‌هاي مختلف نظير انرژي، حمل و نقل و سلامت مورد بهره برداري قرار مي گيرد.اين مقاله به بررسي كامل اينترنت اشياء و پروتكل هاي آن مي پردازد.

In a general sense, the Internet of Things refers to the connection of devices (except devices such as computers and smartphones) to the Internet. The purpose of the cloud (Internet of things) as the fourth industrial revolution is to empower things to connect at any time and in any place, with anything and anyone who uses any path or network and service ideally. This new technology pays attention to the pervasive presence of the environment and the world that is real, digital and virtual and converges towards the formation of intelligent environments.
