An overview of the cooperation and connection of cloud computing and bioinformatics (opportunities, challenges, applications)

در دهه‌هاي گذشته، با توسعه سريع فناوري‌هاي با توان بالا، تحقيقات زيست‌شناسي حجم بي‌سابقه‌اي از داده‌ها را توليد كرده است. به منظور ذخيره و پردازش چنين حجم عظيمي از داده ها، محاسبات ابري و MapReduce در بسياري از زمينه هاي بيوانفورماتيك استفاده شد. در اين مقاله، ابتدا مفاهيم اساسي رايانش ابري و MapReduce و كاربردهاي آن ها در بيوانفورماتيك را معرفي مي‌كنيم. سپس برخي از مشكلات به چالش كشيدن برنامه هاي محاسبات ابري و MapReduce در بيوانفورماتيك را برجسته مي كنيم. در نهايت، ما يك دستورالعمل مختصر براي استفاده از محاسبات ابري در تحقيقات زيست‌شناسي ارائه مي‌دهيم.

In the past decades, with the rapid development of high-throughput technologies, biological research has generated an unprecedented amount of data. In order to store and process such a huge amount of data, cloud computing and MapReduce were used in many fields of bioinformatics. In this article, we first introduce the basic concepts of cloud computing and MapReduce and their applications in bioinformatics. Then we highlight some of the challenges of cloud computing and MapReduce programs in bioinformatics. Finally, we provide a brief guideline for the use of cloud computing in biological research.
