Due to its high surface activity, activated alumina is used as a catalyst in the removal of hydrogen sulfide from natural gas by the Klaus method. Desulfurization by Klaus process has a special place in scientific research in terms of economy and environment. In the present work, active nano-alumina catalysts were prepared for use in Klaus process catalytic reactors. The catalysts prepared using aluminum monophosphate and aluminum nitrate were shaped into granules with high mechanical and thermal strength, and resistant to abrasion, to withstand the operational conditions of Klaus. The analysis of the specific surface area for the prepared catalysts showed that the value of this parameter is about 350 m2/g with the distribution of pores in the form of mesopores. In this work, activated nano-alumina was made by sol-gel method using sodium aluminate as a precursor, and the resulting nano-powder was studied using BET and XRD analyses.
