Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorod thin films were prepared on the glass substrates by a spin coating method. Two different diameters and lengths for the nanorods were achieved by setting the speed of spinning at specific values. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) patterns indicate formation of hexagonal cross section rods with aspect ratios (length/width) of about 0.93 and 0.97 for the speeds of 500 rpm and 1500 rpm, respectively. Water contact angle (WCA) measurements showed an improvement in the hydrophobic properties for the rods with aspect ratio of 0.97.
