Inheritance of the first harvest percentage of seed-cotton yield in double cross F1 generation

This study has been carried out in 2008-2010 in the trial area of the GAP International AgriculturalResearch and Training Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. The purpose ofthe study is to determine the genetic structure of investigated properties in the population whichcreated from 45 double cross F1 generation, using the double cross breeding method; to determinethe suitable parents according to the first picking percentage trait and cross combinations for sixgenotypes of cotton varieties,five G. hirsutum L. and one G. barbadense L. Another purpose of thisstudy is to help the trait breeding researches.According to the study, with respect to the first picking percentage (%) the additive and epistatic gene effects (additive×additive, additive×additive×additive, dominant×dominant) were effective. This study was concluded that the genotypes of the Paum-15, and Fantom in terms of the first picking percentage (%) might be used as a parent in the cotton breeding programs. The crosses 8, 9, 10, 13, 16,19,24,26, 37, 38, 40, 43, 46, 49,50,54, 61, 64, 70, 72, 73, 76, 79, 89, 90, 100, 101,104,112, 118, 119, 121, 130, 134, 137, 142, 145, 146 ve 155 were evaluated as promising combinations forthe first picking percentage trait.
