Abstract
Accounting is a profession which naturally requires application of intense legislation, in which the duties and responsibilities are conducted in a limited time, and therefore which urges very meticulous and careful working. The possible results of the burnout of accounting professionals can result in big losses for the corporations. The study conducted in this regard aims to investigate whether the demographic characteristics of accounting professionals registered in Kocaeli SMMMO (Chamber of Certified Public Accountants) such as gender, marital status, age, education and income level and the professional life related characteristics such as years of occupational experience, type of working and the owned title make a difference on the level of burnout. As a consequence of the analysis conducted on the data collected from the sample, it was concluded that there was no significant difference on the burnout level with regards to gender, marital status variables while age, education, income level, years of occupational experience, type of working, and the owned title causes statistically significant differences on the level of burnout.
