Abstract :
Islamophobia described as Fear of Islam is a concept that containing exclusion, discrimination and violence against Muslims today. Although it is based on very old origins of the mind, Islamophobia is introduced to the literature newly. Negative view of Westerns to Islam and Muslims and their exclusionary attitudes and mental world filled with prejudice is feeding Islamophobia. On the other hand, especially in Europe, Muslims in the society in which they live and become more visible in the public area of the country that produce value as its citizens are bothered by extreme right wing. The economic crisis and rising unemployment have led to the rise of the extreme right-wing parties of the vote and this is reflected in the discourse of moderate leaders. Thus it has led to an increase in existing prejudices against Islam and Muslims.Today in Western countries the size of a rising tide of Islamophobia can’t be ignored. İt has begun questioning values such as coexistence, multiculturalism and respect for diversity in Europe. İn this study, first of all the concept of Islamophobia will be examined and most striking examples of Islamophobic applications will be studied in Western countries. Finally, the reasons of Islamophobia will be discussed along with the rise of right-wing extremism and it will be focused on what to do against Islamophobia.
