Anatolian High Schools’ Level of Management By Values
Abstract :
The aim of this study is to determine Anatolian High Schools’ level of being managed by organizational values with respect to the views of the teachers working in Anatolian High Schools. The research is in survey model. The population of the study consists of 213 teachers working in five state schools in the city centre of Mardin during the 2012-2013 academic year. 182 teachers are chosen from the research population with random sampling method and they consist of the sample. “The Management by Values Scale” which was developed by Yılmaz (2006) and consists of 25 items is used for data collection. The significance level was set at 0.05.Among the findings of the study are; the mean of teachers’ views on levels of being managed by values is at “strongly agree” level. The first three items which the teachers agree the most are in turn; “helping others is seen as a virtue”, “the people having difficulty are helped” and “people are respected just because they are human beings”. On the other hand the first three items which the teachers agree the least are in turn; “people do not behave emotionally in their decisions”, “individuals’ choice of independent working is respected” and “Inner peace is considered first in practices”. No significant difference is found among the teachers’ views on management by values for the variables of gender, seniority, major and educational level.
