Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to develop a likert type attitude scale towards homework given in the social studies course to test construct and model fit after construct validity is investigated through exploratory factor analysis. This research carried out in two middle schools which is located Dörtyol city center in Hatay, fall semester of 2013-2014 academic year. Sample of the study consists of 233 female and 243 male totally 476 6th grade students. The instrument was developed by modifying attitude scale towards chemistry homework developed by Yucel (2004) into the social studies course. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, it was determined that the construct explained % 83.2 of the total variance. After the exploratory factor analysis, the construct was tested theoretically through confirmatory factor analysis. Internal consistency coefficient was found as .90, reliability coefficient through split-half is .89 Moreover it was observed that corrected item-total correlations range between .75 and .94, there is significant difference between lower %27 and top % 27 for all items.
