The Effect of Gamification Activity on the Students Success in Science Course Used in the Evaluation Process of “Plant and Animal Reproduction, Growth and Development” Unit
Abstract :
The aim of this research is to investigate the effects of the gamification activities used in the evaluation process of Plant and Animal Reproduction, Growth and Development unit on students achievement in science course. Non equalized control model from semi-experimental models was used in this study. The participants included 63 students attending 6th grade. While 33 students were assigned to control group, experimental group comprised of 30 students. The study lasted approximately 5 weeks. A multiple- choice achievement test were applied to the control group as pre and post test. The same achievement test was applied to experimental group using plickers. The data were analyzed by using SPSS package program. For the analysis of the data, Independent Sample T-Test, Mann Whitney U Test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Dependent Sample T-Test were used. According to the results of the study, it was seen that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in favor of the experimental group.
