Perceptions of Undergraduate Students Residing in Rural Areas City: A Qualitative Analysis
Abstract :
About percent of 37 young people in the 15-19 between the ages in Turkey has been living in rural areas. It has been seemed significant how to determine the perceptions of urban these young people’ who are living rural areas and candidates of university students. Accordingly, determining students’ concept of metaphors, how they understand life in the city, what they expect and drawback from city life, about information of university life, the city challenges, the attractiveness of the city, the city gains, impairment losses are thought to help resolve many problems may occur. In the research, it has been used the focus group interview of method is an important techniques in the qualitative data collection. The study group who was carried out interviews (f = 18) is determined according to maximum variation sampling method in the study. It was used content analysis method to analyze the qualitative data in the research.According to the findings from the study, it has seen that university students perception of city, urbanization and life in the city are not very similar. At the end of the qualitative analysis, it was reached some main themes such as “development”, “diversity”, “distress and difficulty in communication” related to the urban concept.
