Abstract
With different sizes and being present usually in cities borders, gated communities are private residental areas where the entry is controlled. Gated communities more discussed in big cities, small cities have not been studied. Cagdas Kent, a gated community in Balıkesir which is not large cities in real sense is discussed in this study. Blakely and Snyder typology (1997) was used as the conceptual framework; data were obtained by questionnaire method in this study. Ultimately it is seen that Cagdas Kent gated community is similar to elite security community. However, this analogy is far from exact similarity. In this context, It can be said that the gated community of Cagdas Kent has its own characteristics.
