Title Of Article :
Some Population Parameters of the Striped Venus (Chamelea gallina L., 1758) in the West Marmara Sea
Abstract :
In this study, growth parameters of the striped venus Chamelea gallina (Linnaeus, 1758) in the Sea of Marmara were estimated using length – frequency analaysis. Samples were collected for 24 consecutive months (May 2006 – April 2008) in an unexploited population in west part of the Sea of Marmara. Growth parameters of C. gallina were determined by length frequency distributions. The growth parameters and growth performance index (Ø ) obtained were K= 0,39 year^-1, L∞= 33,05 mm, C= 0,06, WP= 0,08 of year (the end of January) and Ø = 2,63. C. gallina population showed a longevity of 7,69 years and average natural mortality (M) were estimated as 0,65 year^-1.
