Some morphometric features of Palaemonetes antennarius (H. Milne Edwards, 1837) (Decapoda: Palaemonidae)

Some morphometric characteristics of the Palaemonetes antennarius (H. Milne Edwards, 1837) specimens sampled from Yuvarlakçay Stream, Lake Bafa, Lake Gebekirse, Bardakçı Stream and Gümüldür Stream were carried out in this study. Wet weight, total length, carapace length and weight, rostrum length and number of spines on it, abdomen width and number of setae on telson of 238 specimens (122 males, 98 females and 18 egg carried females) were investigated. Additionally, egg weight, number of eggs and diameter of the eggs were also measured. The maximum carapace lengths of females and males were measured as 17.40 mm and 13.88 mm, respectively. As a result, females were greater than males both in carapace and total lengths. The equations between wet weight and carapace width of females and males were calculated as W.W.= 0.0098Cwidth2.3496; R2 = 0.847 and W.W.= 0.0046Cwitdh2.9856; R2 = 0.819, respectively. Additionally, we indicate that there was a linear correlation between the carapace lengths and egg numbers of the females (Egg Num.= 11.632Clength – 118.7; R2 = 0.756). The longest rostrum lengths were observed at the samples collected from Yuvarlak Stream.
