Abstract
The aim of this research is to identify problems of the Turkish teacher candidates on consituting text. The research is descriptive scanning model. Population of the study composed of 120 students in 4th grade from Hatay Mustafa Kemal University Faculty of Education Turkish Education Department in 2014-2015 academic year. The sample of the study composed of 102 students who participated in study. Two separate data collection tool has been developed by researchers in the study. These are Writing Problem Inventory and Writing Form. Based on the results of the research, it is seen that Not making grammatically corrrect sentences (92.16%), Not writing words in accordance with the spelling rules (83.33%), Failuring to provide appropriate transitions between sentences in paragraph (81.37%) and Using incorrect or missing punctuation in the sentence (79.41%) are the frequently encountered problems in the texts. It was obtained that “Not writing letters properly, correctly and legibly” (%6,86), Not starting paragraphs clearly inside from the other lines (4.90%) and Not making development paragraph/paragraphs (4,90%) were the least common problems in the texts.
