Abstract :
Teacher training has been a field of crucial importance throughout history. Yet where, how and by whom teachers are to be trained has always been at the center of hot debate. The reason for this is that education constitutes a great potential to change and to transform within the system and the vital part of this great potential is the teacher. Thus training of teachers is a political issue. Even though teacher training in Turkey has never been outside of the boundaries that the Capitalist system determined in a political sense, it has not become established for more than a hundred years as regards to the place where this training should take place. To this end, several different teacher training systems have been in practice. One of these is pedagogical training programs. These programs have been in charge in a discontinuous fashion. As of 2015 it has been witnessed that these programs are commonly administered. This research aims to identify the perceptions of teacher candidates regarding the pedagogical formation training program they attend in Gaziosmanpasa University Faculty of Education through qualitative interview method. The research is structured in descriptive survey model since it takes qualitative method that intends to describe what is existing as a basis. Interview technique is applied in this research and ‘maximum variation sampling’ that is amongst qualitative interview patterns is preferred. The study group is comprised of 29 students participating in the pedagogical formation program offered by Gaziosmanpasa University Faculty of Education Department of Educational Sciences during 2014-15 Academic Year.
