Abstract :
In this study, LabVIEW and MATLAB/Simulink based photovoltaic system simulator with maximum power point tracking capability is designed. The proposed system composes of photovoltaic module, DC/DC boost converter and maximum power point tracking algorithm. Photovoltaic module is modeled with LabVIEW by entering only data that the commercial producers give in datasheets. DC/DC power converter is modeled with MATLAB/Simulink and is communicated with photovoltaic module and maximum power point tracking algorithm, which are modeled with LabVIEW, by using simulation interface toolkit. Photovoltaic module, which is modeled with data given in datasheets, is tested with maximum power point tracking algorithm for different radiation and temperature levels. The current-voltage and power-voltage variations are plotted. The maximum power point and operation point are shown on these graphs. Proposed simulator can be used for both educational purposes and determining the producible energy level for any location that investment is considered.
