Abstract :
Nowadays stress is the unavoidable part of our lives. Especially some businesses are more stressful than others. Because of its quality, the accounting profession is one of the businesses that are stressful. In this study, by actualizing a survey to 462 accountants in Ankara, we determined the sources of stress of accountants and it is confirmed that stress sources change according to the demographical characteristics (gender, age, education, official title, seniority in the profession, and seniority in the work). Demographical characteristics of accountants responded to the survey are analyzed by the methods of percentage and frequency. In the determination of stress sources of accountants, the averages are calculated for each stress source and according to the averages found, the first 5 stress sources are determined by listing them in order from big to small. The differences between the stress sources and demographical characteristics of accountants are measured by t- test and Anova test. The stress sources that affect the accounts are listed at the end of the research. When the differences between the stress sources and demographical characteristics of accountants are analyzed, it is found that while there are not any statistical differences in “gender”, “education level”, and “official title”; there are important differences in “age”, “seniority in the profession”, and “seniority in the work”.
