Abstract :
The present study was carried out to determine the soil fertility and nutritional status of potato plants grown in Dinar district of Afyonkarahisar. For this purpose 70 soil and plant samples were collected from ten villages (Tatarlı, Haydarlı, Alpaslan, Okçular, Kadılar, Kınık, Doganlı, Okçular, Yıprak, Göçerli ) in Dinar. Soil samples were analyzed to determine some physical (texture) and some chemical (pH, CaCO_3, organic matter, EC) properties and total N, available P and exchangeable Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu, Mn, Zn concentrations. Also leaf samples were analyzed to determine N, P, K, Mg, Ca, Fe, Zn, Mn and Cu concentrations of potato plants. The results of the soil and plant analysis were compared with the sufficiency ranges given for soils and plants. According to the results, in generally the soil in the studied areas were clay loom in texture, slight alkaline in reaction (pH), moderate (%72.9) and high (% 25.7) calcareous and slight saline (% 67). Organic matter contents of soils were low (81 %) and moderate (12.8 %). Total N, available P, exchangeable Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, and Cu levels were generally sufficient, however Zn content is insufficient in (67.1 %) soil samples. Nitrogen, P, K, Ca, Mg, Mn and Cu concentration of the plant samples were found to be sufficient, however 55.7 % and 41.4 % were found to suffer Fe and Zn deficiency, respectively.
