In Ovo Method and Its Commercial Applications in Broilers

Over the past three decades, many studies that used in ovo method have been made in broiler embryos. Various vaccine antibodies, nutrients, hormones and some stimulating solutions were applied in these studies. The studies have been conducted to investigate effects on skeletal, muscular, digestive and endocrine systems in hatchlings and their older ages in broilers. As a result of studies, some advantages of in ovo method have been revealed as incresing hatchability of fertile eggs, body and organ weights, decreasing morbidity and mortality, improving feed intake and feed efficiency, supporting skeletal muscle and intestine development and sex reversal effects.
