Officers, In The Mirror Of Divan Literature
Abstract :
In this essay, Ottoman poets’ points of view concerning life style and mentality of goverment job in Ottoman State has been tried to evaluate in terms of literary works. Poets generally had satirized, rarely praised the officers in respect of their duties and positions. Especially there have existed critical views directed towards the high class officers and towards the state system which was constituted by these officers through the whole history of Ottoman poetry. The officer poets’ views’ complaints and desires about their lives and their collogues reflects the continious characteristics. These critics have been evaluated from 16th century to 20th in a chronological method, taking into account some poems recognized in some divans and mathnawies.
