  • Abstract
When students are asked to speak in a foreign language, they are mostly hesitant, even scared to do so. Facing foreign sounds, foreign words, and especially producing the language disturbs them; they feel a sort of anxiety called foreign language anxiety. In this descriptive study which could constitute a theoretical basis for experimental studies, we aim to present the ways to deal with the anxiety experienced in foreign language oral communication classes. For this reason, this study, first, gives a background related to oral communication in a foreign language. Language anxiety, its reasons, and possible solutions to it are also discussed. Dealing with language anxiety is possible through ‘child ego state’, role-play games, and simulation games. Therefore, the concept of ‘child ego state’ is explained and those two games are introduced in this study.
