Investigating Childhood Abuse and Psychological Symptom Level of Teacher Candidates

The purpose of this study is to examine the level of childhood abuse and psychological symptoms of teacher candidates. The sample consists of 322 teacher candidates. In the study which relies on Scanning Model, Childhood t-Trauma Questionnaire and Symptom Check List (SCL-90-R) were applied in order to investigate the levels of abuse in childhood and psychological symptoms t test and Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient Techniques were used for the statistical analysis of the research data. As a result of the research, it has been found that the mean of scores obtained from Childhood t-Trauma Questionnaire was average. It is observed that childhood abuse experiences and psychological symptoms varied in terms of gender variable. It has been also found that in the significance level of ,05, there is a positive relationship between physical abuse levels and psychological symptoms.
