Abstract :
Objective: Major depression is a relatively common psychiatric disorder. The etiology remains to be elucidated. In this study, we investigated the relationship between major depression and the insertiondeletion polymorphism of angiotensin converting enzyme gene. Materials and Methods: The DNAs from patients (n=133) and healthy volunteers (n=119) were analysed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Results: The genotype (p 0,05) and allele (p=0,011) frequencies were statistically significant. Conclusion: We suggest that the insertiondeletion polymorphism of angiotensin converting enzyme is associated with major depression.
