  • Abstract
The cesarean section is the most common gynecological operation. Necrotizing fasciitis is a progressive, rapidly spreading, and life threatening soft-tissue infection characterized by necrosis of skin, subcutaneous tissues and fasciae. The frequency of necrotizing fasciitis after cesarean section has been reported as 1.8/1000 in the literature. The infection can spread up to 2.5 cm/h, with minimal change in the overlying skin. Morbidity and mortality rates are high despite early diagnosis and treatment. Therefore early diagnosis and aggressive managements are essential. Computed tomography is a rapid imaging method that can show fascial thickening and the presence of gas at the affected area, and can guide the extensive surgical debridement. Herein we aimed to report a 44 years old woman who has necrotizing fasciitis which occurred after cesarean section as a case
