Changes in Antioxidant Parameters in Cattle with Tuberculosis

The study was conducted to detect the changes in antioxidant parameters in cattle with tuberculosis. The study was carried out on 30 cattle consisting of 15 cattle with tuberculosis and 15 healthy cattle. Intradermal purified protein derivative (PPD) mamalian tuberculin test was used for diagnosis of tuberculosis. Blood samples were taken from the jugular vein of the animals and analyzed as soon as possible. Although significant differences were determined in malondialdehide (MDA), glutathion peroxidase (GSHPx), glutatione (GSH), vitamin E and vitamin C levels between the groups, the significant changes were not determined in the catalase and vitamin A levels. In conclusion, important changes were determined in the lipid peroxidation and antioxidant parameters in the cattle with tuberculosis.
