Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate body condition score (BCS) in dairy cows and to determine its effects on 305 day milk yield. The material of this study involved by 48 head Holstein cows, aged 2.5–4 year, was given pirimarous and multiparous at lactations 1st-4th, raised at a dairy farm in Bozdogan county in Aydin. We found that the 305-day milk yield of cows with a body condition score 4≤ BCS was found to be at a higher level than other cows in this study. The effects of lactation period and calving season were not found significant (P≥0.05), whereas the effect of BCS on 305- day milk yield was found significant (P≥0.01).
