Educational Needs of the Children Working on the Streets

In Turkey, though many researches on the working children have been done the ones on the children working on the streets are limited. Even there is no research on their educational needs. The aim of this research is to determine the educational needs of the children working on the streets. This is a descriptive study based on qualitative method. The participants of the study are 86 children working on the streets of Ankara, Altındag. In order to obtain the data needed interview and observation forms have been used. In order to analyze data, the statically frequencies and percentages have been carried out. As a result of the research, most of the children working on the streets need to be educated for the habit of cleaning, obeying the traffic rules, spending their spare times effectively, habit of reading, studying, recognizing the responsibilities, getting the priorities right, following the events of other countries, speaking and writing Turkish language well, expressing themselves correctly, rules of listening. On the other hand, children do not need to be educated for keeping the environment and animals.
